Open Badges refer specifically to digital badges that adhere to an open standard for recognizing and validating learning. Open Badges are secure, web-enabled credentials that contain granular, verified information employers can use to evaluate an individual’s achievements.

HRCI partners with Credly to translate our certifications into the Open Badges standard defined by Mozilla. That means you are now able to accept, manage and share your credential as a digital asset.

Your ability to share your badge(s) on social media sites and other digital properties is one of the valuable features of an HRCI digital badge. Each digital badge has a unique URL that can be embedded on a resume, website or social media channel.

Representing your certification as a digital badge gives you the ability to broadcast your credential and tell your professional story online with single-click access to validated credential information. Many employers are learning about digital badges, so displaying an online portfolio of your credentials will place you at the forefront of what will become a convenient circulation medium for communicating professional skills.

This is also others verify your credentials based on the metadata contained within the digital badge.

Digital badging is still an emerging technology, but increasing numbers of companies, training organizations and credentialing agencies are adopting the Open Badges standard. Credly works directly with credentialing issuers to display their credentials as digital badges. If there is a particular credential you would like to see represented on Credly, please contact Credly support.

While digital badges are simply digital image files, they are uniquely linked to data hosted on the Credly platform. This link to verified data makes them more reliable and secure than a traditional paper-based credential or certificate.

While Credly adheres to the Open Badges standard defined by Mozilla, they do not currently support the uploading of badges issued by other platforms. However, this is an enhancement they intend to make. If you have questions or other badges that you would like displayed on Credly, please contact Credly support directly.

If your question relates to the status of your certification or re-certification, please contact info@hrci.org. If your question relates to any information on the Credly web site, please contact Credly support directly.
